Shoe retailer Dune’s CEO talks about the new Glasgow flagship store

Glasgow’s flagship shopping street will be given a boost with the opening of shoe retailer Dune London’s new store.

It has regained a prime location in the heart of Buchanan Street, one of Glasgow’s main shopping areas.

Dune Group Founder and CEO Daniel Rubin said: “Glasgow has always been a key city for Dune.

“We’ve been around for 25 years and our Glasgow store has always been one of our most successful.

“So I’m thrilled that we’re opening our new store on Buchanan Street with a completely original design that really elevates the brand and positions us as the go-to footwear and accessories brand in town.”

The new 1,000 square foot store features Dune London’s new premium design concept, designed in-house by the store’s development team.

The store offers noble and refined materials and a palette of neutral colors to highlight the Dune London Women’s, Men’s and Accessories collections.

Marble and polished stainless steel finishes sit alongside gloss white and dovetail elements that define the brand’s concept by creating an exceptional customer experience. Large light boxes in the windows and inside the store will highlight Dune London’s seasonal images.

The retailer’s move to a new location after the pandemic comes at a time of change for the city’s flagship street. Earlier this year it was announced that the Buchanan Galleries shopping center could be demolished to make way for a mixed-use urban neighborhood creating new streets.

And last week a £7million redesign for a historic building in Glasgow was revealed with details of the next chapter for a Scottish family jeweler in the city.

Savills, on behalf of Royal London (Mutual Insurance Society Ltd), said the lease deal with luxury watch and jewelery retailer Laings on Buchanan Street, Glasgow, will help further strengthen the thoroughfare’s position in as a shopping destination.

Laings will occupy the Rowan House retail unit, 66-70 Buchanan Street, plus the four office floors above on two concurrent 15-year leases, paying a combined rent of £625,000 a year.
