Clarks announced in September that it would close the doors of its Newborough store after assessing its location and size.
Now the owners of the brand, C. & J. Clark International Ltd, have applied to move into a property vacated by The Body Shop at 117 Westborough.
He filed an application with the Scarborough Council to put the Clarks mark on the exterior of the building.
The request states: “Currently vacant on bustling Westborough Street, this retail unit will soon be Clarks’ new home in Scarborough.
“As part of our store layout and although of minor complexity, all necessary considerations have been taken to meet the conservation designation in which this store is located.”
The plans are now in consultation.
When the company announced the closure of the Newborough store last year, a spokesperson said: “At Clarks, we continually review all of our stores to make sure they are the right size and located in the right areas. in order to provide the best possible offer and environment to our customers.
“After careful consideration, we have decided that our Clarks store in Newborough, Scarborough will close.”
